Scientific name: Tillandsia Brachicaulus Multi Flora
Plant size: Around 10cm high (+/- 2cm)
Air plants are epiphytic and use their small roots to attach themselves to the branches of trees and shrubs, rather than grow in a soil substrate.
Light: Tillandias prefer medium to bright indirect light and can handle some morning sun.
Water: Air plants absorb moisture and nutrients through their leaves, instead of through their roots. Any roots present on members of the Tillandsia genus are used for securing the plant to the tree on which it lives. Water the plant once a week by submerging it in a bowl of water for 20 min and then leave it out to dry. Ensure that the plant is completely dry before putting it back on display. Tillandsia's prefer rain or spring water.
Fertilizer: In the warmer months fertilize the plant once a month by adding a diluted bromeliad fertilizer to the water bath.
