Scientific name: Albuca Spiralis
Sold in a 12cm nursery pot.
This indigenous plant is a winter growing bulb that develops fascinating curls and twists as a result of the cold weather. Just before the summer the Frizzle Sizzle will flower before going dormant, producing numerous yellow-green nodding flowers that are said to smell of butter and vanilla.
Light: The plant prefers full sun to partial shade. Light strongly influences the intensity of the curls.
Water: This plant requires consistent watering when planting to mimic the rainy season, but once it is established, switch to light watering as it will become quite tolerant to drought .
Fertilizer: The bulbs must be annually fertilized during the early spring season using an all-purpose fertilizer. It will also require feeding once monthly during winter with a diluted and balanced liquid feed. Feed the plant after slightly wetting it. Do not feed the plant during the summer months when it has gone dormant.
Please note that these plants require regular watering. For this reason we only dispatch these orders on a Monday and Tuesday (to areas outside of Cape Town) so that the plants do not risk spending the weekend at the courier depot.
